Privacy policy

Bible Made Clear is designed to work without an account. The iOS and Android apps do not require account sign-in; journals, personal plans, Kids paths, Teen studies, and reading progress stay on that device. In the web experience, you may optionally connect an existing YouVersion account to sync adult reading progress, journal entries, preferences, and custom reading plans across devices.
Information we handle
- Your YouVersion account identifier, email address, display name, and optional profile picture when you connect your account in the web experience.
- Your completed readings, optional journal notes, reading plans, preferred Bible version, reading size, audio speed, and reminder time.
- Your reply address and message if you send a support request.
- Your chosen daily reminder time and notification permission, which the mobile app uses only to schedule local reminders.
- Basic technical requests needed to operate and secure the app.
How we use it
We use this information only to provide optional web account connection, sync web app data, remember your preferences, operate the Bible reading experience, respond to support requests, and protect the service. We do not sell personal information or use journal entries for advertising.
Shared plans
Plans are private by default. In the web experience, if you create an unlisted share link, anyone with that link can see the plan title, passages, prompts, and your display name. Your email address, journal, and other account information are never included in the shared plan.
Other services
The Bible library uses the YouVersion Platform to retrieve Bible translations and passages. The web experience can also use YouVersion to connect an existing YouVersion account. Bible Made Clear does not send your journal entries or custom plan notes to YouVersion.
If you choose Human-style narration, the reading text you ask to hear is sent to OpenAI’s text-to-speech API to generate the audio. Bible Made Clear does not include your account identifier, email address, or journal notes in that request. OpenAI does not use API inputs and outputs to train its models by default; API abuse-monitoring logs may be retained for up to 30 days unless shorter retention controls apply.
Storage and retention
Unsigned journal notes, personal plans, Kids paths, Teen studies, imported devotionals, and preferences stay in your browser or app storage. Removing the app or clearing its storage permanently removes this local information unless you exported or copied it elsewhere. Web data synced through an optional account connection and support requests are stored in Bible Made Clear’s hosted database until they are resolved, deleted, or no longer needed. Operational logs may be retained for a limited period for security and reliability. Text sent for Human-style narration is handled under OpenAI’s API data-retention controls described above.
Children and teens
The Kids and Teens experiences do not include public profiles, advertising, chat, or private messaging. Their paths, questions, notes, and studies remain on the device. A grown-up check protects navigation from Kids into contact forms and older-audience areas; it is not a substitute for legally required parental consent.
Your choices
You may use the app without an account, choose Phone / offline narration so reading text is not sent to OpenAI, or clear local app data through your device or browser. Web users who connected YouVersion may permanently delete their synced Bible Made Clear profile, plans, and journal data from the account-deletion page.
